Have you ever caught yourself staring at pictures of models and celebrities with a tinge of envy? Well, you're not alone. The good news is all of us have the potential to look great in our photographs.

  • Stand up straight
Good posture is the first step to posing for a great picture. Take a deep breath and pull in your tummy muscles.

  • Add a twist
Facing the camera with your hips at a slight angle adds visual interest while slenderizing your torso. Also, place one foot in front of the other, facing slightly away from the camera.

  • Avoid that dreaded double chin
Start by relaxing, then straighten up, tilt your chin out and down, resting your tongue against the roof of your mouth.

  • Mind the arms
Place your hands on your hips, holding your arms back and away from your body.

  • Smile
Smile with your eyes, flirt with the camera, think happy thoughts and let the inner you show through.

  • Go glam
Hide blemishes, powder your nose, groom your brows, get luscious lips and big lashes and the look of a fresh blush on your cheeks.

  • Hair care
Sport a hairdo that's well groomed with clean, healthy, shiny hair. Pay special attention to flyaways. Adding a jeweled hair accessory can add that extra sparkle.

  • Find your hue
Wear colors that complement your skin tone. You probably already have a good idea of what works for you, if you don't do your homework.

  • Practice, practice, practice
Then sparkle and shine - pose in front of the mirror, try different angles, looks and smiles. Once you've perfected the art in the mirror have a friend take lots of pictures, review them and improvise.
